  • My mother passed away on March of 2014. Alameda Family Funeral Home, with supervision of Ron, helped us to transfer my Mother to Tehran, Iran in a matter of eight/nine days. I was very pleased with the quality and sympathetic care provided by them.

  • At some point in our lives we will need assistance in arranging for funeral services for a loved one who has died or that we find ourselves proactively making pre-arrangements for a future need, as part of our own overall family estate planning process. A few years ago, I found myself making funeral arrangements for a very close friend who had died unexpectantly. Without hesitation, I called Zoe, owner of Alameda Family Funeral and Cremation. Zoe and her staff were understanding, compassionate and caring professionals. They were very thoughtful, helpful and thorough as they walked me through the options that were available. I will always remember their personal attention and care with the personal preparation details. They answered my questions and they let me know what to anticipate during the entire process. To this day, I remain grateful to Zoe and the staff at Alameda Family Funeral and Cremation for providing the best final care for my dearest friend.

  • Everyone at Alameda Family Funeral Home is wonderful. I had the advantage of knowing the end was near for my loved one, so I interviewed several funeral homes in the week before his death. The office is comfortable and inviting. Valerie greeted us warmly and compassionately, inviting us into a consultation room. They are very organized and even knowing I was only in the interviewing stage she provided pricing and took the extra time to answer questions I had.

Within just a few days, I called their service in the middle of the night to procure transport of my husband to their offices. I was impressed that a discreet vehicle with no logo arrived at the time promised. The undertakers that came into my home were very respectful of my husband’s body and my feelings. They shrouded him in a sheet and then moved him onto a gurney which they moved with care back into the hertz.

The next day I met with Valerie again to make all of the decisions that needed to be made. Valerie walked me through step by step. Allowing me time to think about the different options and be comfortable with my decisions. They were very accommodating to a couple of special requests.

One area I didn’t know about was being asked to view the body before any visitors to ensure that the look on the face and the hair were as close to correct as could be. A minor adjustment was made quickly, to my satisfaction.

The funeral director was adept at handling the emotional visitors and containing them, especially during the transport from the funeral home to the church and from the church to the cemetery.

All aspects of my experience were positive. I could not have chosen a more professional, proficient, caring funeral home to take care of my needs during a very stressful time. In fact, they care beyond the immediate need, as evidenced by Valerie calling me about a week later to see how I was doing and to see if I needed a referral for emotional or spiritual support during my grief.

I am happy to refer any who ask to The Alameda Family Funeral Home.

Recently I used the services of Alameda family funeral & cremation. I flew in from
Out of town and they were the first folks I spoke to for services for my mom. The staff was great Valerie, and Mike were very helpful at first. So we were using my mom’s life insurance to pay for the services and this is when the issues started. Now I have no experience on how this process worked and relied on the experts of the funeral home. We chose cremation service and was under the impression we would use the money from the insurance for the service. The 1st red flag-- was when I mentioned this to them and they added an extra $150 charge because they said they were going to take longer to get paid. I was ok with that. The day of the funeral service I paid cash for the $895 to use the chapel, and Michael was a great host. The 2nd red flag-- was as I was outside with my family taking pictures, the Owner/Director (Zoe) sent her staff down to demand payment for the cremation service, which had not happened yet due to waiting for the insurance check, and if I didn’t get on the insurance company, she was going to charge me $695 every 2 days to store my mom there. (Are you serious during the funeral service) you call me in for money? The next day I get on the phone with the insurance company, and do what the funeral home is supposed to be experts at doing, and get on with the insurance agent. 3rd red flag-- Once on the call the agent said the funeral home is supposed to send in an invoice form with the charges and fees. They argued back and forth and finally the insurance company said to call other funeral homes around and they can share the form. They found the form and create the form, but Zoe tacks on a $695 fee, and finally gets the letter typed out. The insurance company says they would send them the check in a few days, and Zoe would not cremate my mom even though she had the guarantee letter confirming they sent the check out. I had to leave back to GA, without with my mother as she was still in the funeral home. They finally received the check and still took a few days to cremate her and my dad had to go pick her up.
This Zoe owner/director is only out for the money, and stole my grief time for my mother doing their job trying to get the money and correct forms sent to the insurance. Also added much unneeded stress. Isn’t it the funeral homes specialty to go through this process, and make it easier on the folks grieving over a loss of a loved one? I felt no personal connection with this funeral home and had my dad setup with another company in the south bay.
